My father invested quite a lot into ensuring I was trained from a very young age. It was a case of working and training nonstop until I was completely capable of excelling at the exams and other requirements needed to enter our military, and once I achieved that much, I simply utilized my knowledge to qualify for promotions.

[he makes it sound so easy, but it was a hard road, and one that comes with a lot of people thinking garrett paid people off in order to get him a ranking position. it's frustrating, of course, but hubert has enough pride to be able to say confidently that his own hard work got him there, even if he is just a tool for his adoptive father's machinations to get in good with the government.]
