GENKI SILENT PROTAG. She'll probably strong-arm you into doing something ridiculous, and do so with the cutest smile on earth. She might also poke you with a naginata if you're a punk.
THE SASSY PROTAG. a phantom thief with a heart of gold. lives rebelliously and without regrets, though spends most of his time feigning a very unassuming persona. #nailedit
A true sunshine protagonist. Country bumpkin, slow on the uptake. Wants to be everyone's friend. Swordian Master of fire, incredibly hot-blooded. A GOOD BEAN. Please love him. He's my favorite and I am biased.
The original fabulous Tales science lady. Probably wants to dissect you pretty shamelessly. Loves and adores cute things. Inventor of the Swordians. Definitely the definition of Mad Scientist.
[going ahead without the rest of the party is... probably a mistake. it's something he can handle, and undoubtedly a bit more than most of them (except maybe for mary, but she shouldn't be on the front lines anyway).
but it doesn't really make haruhiro feel good. as both leader and the thief of the party, it's his responsibility to scout ahead. he has to see if the path is clear, and try to formulate a plan if it's not.
which is all well and good, of course. the path seems clear, but as haruhiro turns to go back and get the rest of the party, a coeurl leaps out from behind the trees and shrubbery.]
—Crap! [not good. he may be beyond the point of only fighting things like goblins and hobgoblins, but he's not equipped for a monster this big and ferocious at all. he leaps back, brandishing his dagger defensively.
an opening. he needs some kind of opening, and his eyes dart around the area for something he can do to distract the coeurl enough to get an advantage.
[How did he end up here? Oh, right. Mouthing off to people again. Mouthing off to people and not having a smart back-up plan which led to Hiro darting off before he could get himself killed, tearing off down an unknown path.
People were easy to handle. Monsters, on the other hand, are new things to Hiro. He's used to being a leader and he's used to thinking on his feet, but in a place like this sometimes he isn't that great and following through on his ideas.
His feet pound against the ground as he runs, skidding to a stop only briefly when he notices the cat-like monster jump and corner something. Or, rather, someone. The guy didn't look like he could take on something like that himself and Hiro won't stand for that.
So, naturally, he does the smart thing and finds a nearby stone, throwing it as hard as he can.]
Hey! [It's...definitely to get the coeurl's attention and not Haruhiro's, but both will happen.] Get lost! [The look he shoots the other boy though is enough that says he should try to bolt while he can.]
[the problem with that is the fact that haruhiro can't just bolt if hiro isn't. that's not really his style—it feels too wrong to leave someone in the lurch like that.
even if it's a good distraction and is kind of saving his ass right now.
it at least gets him out of the way—he gets behind a rock, taking a moment to get grounded and a better grasp for how he can approach. he's got the dagger in hand for a reason, after all; it's not as if it's just there for a decoration.]
...Do you have a plan? [he'll ask hiro that, rather than just.
letting him yell at the coeurl. that doesn't really seem like something that will get them too far. save for maybe riling it up more, which...
[Soft kitty, warm kitty, etc etc. Hiro usually likes cats! Hiro can usually handle cats! This...isn't really a cat. So when Haruhiro addresses him, Hiro cuts his eyes over to him while watching the creature from the corner of his eye.]
If you mean "a plan besides run as fast as possible"? Then no, not too much. Does this thing have any weaknesses we know about?
It's the best idea we've got so far. If we can distract it and run it'll put enough distance between us and it to come up with a new plan. I lost the exit, but there has to be another route out of here right? [Apparently he thinks Haruhiro knows his way around better than he does and he's fully willing to admit that.]
Besides, the worst that could happen is it gets mad and tries to eat us which I think it's trying to do already anyway.
There might be. I've never come down this way before, so I guess there's one one way to find out.
[they're probably screwing themselves into a corner, but this is also like. exactly why haruhiro was trying to scout the area.]
We don't really have any other choice right now anyway—he looks pissed. [which is to say that even if this plan seems half-baked, haru's not refusing it, either.]
One…two…[And he throws the dirt directly at the creature's eyes, hoping to land a hit but not sticking around long enough to find out. He's turning on his heel and bolting in another direction, hoping Haruhiro will keep up as he ventures deeper into the foreign area without stopping. Come along, friend, let's see what pitfalls we're walking into next.]
the clear answers is fall into this bc it's cute and fun and good

or bolt.
bolting is probably the better choice here.]

bad kitty, no kitty.]

[come on, hiro. the dagger isn't just for decoration here! he's not totally incompetent.
he's just. mostly. incompetent, that's all.]
I've never seen one of these things before today, so... not really a lot of time to figure it out.
no subject
I think I've got it. How's your aim? [And a pause.] Not with the dagger, but in general.
no subject
Okay, I guess. Probably pretty average. [not terrible, but far from exceptional, as one tends to be.]
no subject
That'll do it. I need you to aim for its eyes. If we can blind it, it'll give us enough time to get out of its line of vision. Sound like a plan?
no subject
[not that haru's unwilling to try it. he's just never even done that before...
but then again, his fighting experience is somewhat limited and usually aided with a full party of (sort of) combat ready people.]

Think about it this way. If we run into something else after this maybe they'll find and fight each other instead. On my count we'll throw. You ready?
[That monster's probably not going to be patient for much longer.]
no subject
[he's not entirely sure it would work like that, but haru will roll with it because...
well, it's not like there's a better plan right now.]
Ready.
