voice test ☀ joker

the hierophant; cafe leblanc
but of course, some things don't always go as planned.
like the rare occasion where someone comes into the cafe leblanc for some coffee or curry (or perhaps both; they complement each other well here, after all) and the proprietor is nowhere to be seen. like this moment, for instance, when a certain scruffy-haired teen comes down the back stairs, bag slung over his shoulder (is that a cat popping its head out?), and he just pauses.]
Huh?
[he questions quietly, wondering why the place is unattended—he can only guess it was meant to be brief, and with the assumption that nobody would show up. whoops?
either way, it looks like akira is walking himself behind the counter, placing down the bag and picking up an apron like a semi-pro. unless you're one of the phantom thieves, in which case he's not helping your ass unless you ask, like a true pal.]
Can I help you?
[see? totally a pro!]
the magician; mementos
until there's a rustling sound. one corner. the next. then behind a pole.
...do you feel like you're being watched?
...or maybe like someone is about to ambush you?
well, it doesn't matter, because as soon as joker has discerned that this isn't an aggressive shadow, but someone else, he'll somersault out from where he's hiding, gun in hand. to those who know him, he may seem familiar, even recognizable entirely. to anyone else, this masked trickster is joker of the phantom thieves. his smirk skirts on the dangerous side, knowing he's got someone cornered—though he doesn't seem particularly aggressive before asking the most important questions:]
Who are you? ["and why are you here?" he doesn't lower his gun completely though, instead twirling it in his hand.
show off.]
the chariot; texts
...well, he probably does! except that he fell asleep, so being woken up to a text that says "do you have a second?" or some variation of it is going to be met with a response.]
1.
[and then, immediately after that, a second text:]
Time's up.
[nobody said it would be a helpful response. please though, continue.]
the fool; wildcard
no subject
[since apparently he's extinct.]
2016. [or. 20XX but whatever atlus, it's the 2016 calendar, i'm onto your lies.]
no subject
Then again that was kind of the whole point. Who would believe a lie when you're lighthearted about it?
ANYWAYS.
God she wishes she had Pod with her (why she doesn't? an rp ~mystery~), it knows the exact dates better than she does. The aliens didn't arrive until around 5000AD or so, but according to the old world info she found, there was something decimating the human race long before their arrival anyways.
Hm.]
Are there any threats to humanity you can think of at the moment? [??? WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT??]
no subject
it's difficult.
someone comes into mementos saying they're an android (which, fine, he doesn't doubt that part) and saying that humanity is extinct (even though he's right here and humanity is definitely okay), how else is he supposed to react? especially when she follows it up with a question like that.
what a weird day.]
Not as far as I know. Humanity's doing okay on the whole, probably.
no subject
Well. Alright then.]
I see. [Sort of, but also not really. Not like her confusion comes across as readily apparent.] Regardless, it's my duty to ensure your safety.
no subject
someone just coming and telling him humanity is extinct and expecting him to just roll with it is a little weird, even for him.]
...What about your own safety?
no subject
[2B... THAT'S NOT REASSURING!! And in any other situation, that wouldn't be the case. Death isn't so cheap anymore, after all. But even if she recognizes it for what it is, GOOD OL' PROGRAMMING means that Joker's life takes priority over just about everything else.]
But if you're concerned, I can take care of myself.
no subject
[though he doesn't doubt she's capable, especially if she's really... an android?
this is a weird thing, even though he comes from a universe where aigis exists, but what does he know?]
You should worry about taking care of yourself.
no subject
[From the way he's spoken thus far, she assumes he can defend himself. That already puts him leagues ahead of a defenseless "child" machine, so really, how hard could this be!]
no subject
[he does mean that in the nicest possible way. her gesture, he assumes, comes from a good place even if it's a bit baffling to him.
but he doesn't need protection, he can take care of himself and others too.]
no subject
[Buddy, she's gonna protect you. But she'll at least verify that he really can take care of himself, so there won't be any 24/7 hovering over him. Just, y'know, if something was about to strike him fatally, she'd shove him out of the way and take it no questions asked.
#JustAndroidThings]
So, just what is your business here?
no subject
Trying to get to the bottom of this place. [literally and figuratively.]
no subject
no subject
I'm not doing that all today. It's not possible.
no subject
no subject
[sorry, 2B, it's legit af.]
no subject
Then the goal is to explore what you can for now. Am I getting that right?
no subject
More or less, but not all at once. [there's just not enough time and energy for humans to do that. especially when they're a group of teenagers with school... minor details.]
You don't need to worry too much about it.
no subject
[This place looks unsafe after all, and the deep (programmed) desire to PROTECT HUMANITY is pretty strong. As long as they're in this shady subway station, she won't be going away anytime soon.]
no subject
[which does primarily mean that he wants to find his fellow phantom thieves and make sure they're all fine (he believes they are, but it's not like he can leave without them anyway), but in any case.. it applies to 2B as well.]
no subject
Then let's get moving.
no subject
Right. The entrance isn't far from here.
